How I Work with You

As a Counsellor and Supervisor, I work within a Person-Centred Humanistic Framework. Drawing on a variety of therapeutic models and creative methods.

   How I Work with Clients

My Approach to Counselling Sessions

I believe in a relational and collaborative approach to counselling taking into account you as an individual and your circumstances. Drawing on elements of different approaches to help you explore and cope with your problems.

Focusing on building a strong therapeutic relationship and setting achievable goals. During the initial assessment, we will discuss your concerns and work together to outline a session plan that suits you best. I provide a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings, helping you navigate challenges and transitions in life.

What is Person-Centred Counselling

As a Person-Centred Counsellor I believe my role is to provide an environment where together we can explore, your thoughts and feelings and how you experience your life and any issues you bring, as you see them.

I wholeheartedly believe in the positive nature of all human beings and that we are always striving to do the best for ourselves. I believe in the uniqueness and worth of every individual and that everyone deserves respect to choose their own way through life. I recognise that you are the only expert in your own internal world, and the only person who really knows how you feel.

Often, the most important thing in counselling is the therapeutic relationship that will develop between us, in which I hope that you will really feel heard and understood, in a non-judgemental way, and that you will experience me as a real and genuine person in this relationship.

You will have the opportunity to share your current issues and any background history, and we will outline the session structure according to your needs. It's your opportunity to ask anything about counselling or about me. Costs and booking details will be explained, ensuring you feel comfortable and informed before we begin our work together.

Measuring Your Progress

We will have regular reviews to assess your counselling goals. Your feedback is valuable in shaping our sessions and ensuring that we are moving in the right direction. By offering personalised assessments and tailoring my approach to your individual needs, I aim to empower you to thrive and make positive changes in your life.

   How I Work with Counsellors

What Is Counselling Supervision

"Supervision is a working alliance between two professionals where supervisees offer an account of their work, reflect on it, receive feedback, and receive guidance if appropriate. The object of this alliance is to enable the worker to gain in ethical competency, confidence and creativity so as to give the best possible service to clients." Inskipp & Proctor 2001

What to Expect from Supervision

Our Supervision sessions aim to be insightful, supportive and encouraging, an opportunity to continuously learn and grow to support your clients.

It is a professional relationship which helps you, as a counsellor/trainee, to reflect on different aspects of the counselling relationship, and aspects outside the session that impact your work.

There is an ethical requirement from all Accredited Bodies that you maintain regular supervision whether you are a trainee or a qualified counsellor.

My Approach to Supervision

In line with my own counselling practice, teaching and facilitation work; I work in a collaborative, relational way, drawing on Humanistic and Person-Centred approaches to working with people in a supervisory context. Drawing on elements of different approaches to get the best possible outcome for you and your clients.

We will work collaboratively within the guidelines of your chosen Accredited Body/Professional Code of Ethics, taking into consideration the working practices and guidelines of any agency settings you are involved in as well as the context in which you work.
