RELATIONAL APPROACH

How I Work

Starting counselling can feel like a challenging step to take. I provide a warm, safe, non-judgemental space for you to find new ways of coping or to come to a place of better understanding and clarity.  I use approaches and methods which support a sense of collaboration and working together towards the same positive goal.

During your sessions you can be truly yourself and free to explore your thoughts and feelings without worrying that you will be judged. You will be offered a comfortable and supportive environment where you can come to a deeper understanding of yourself and build new resources. We will look at your situation from a very practical perspective, so that you know, right from start, that there are things you can do to feel better and have your thoughts and emotions under control again.

I work within a Person-Centred framework, with a relational approach using a variety of different counselling techniques depending on your individual needs, integrating them holistically and creatively to help you to gain insights into your thoughts, issues and struggles.

Counselling works best with regular weekly sessions and I offer these initially in 4 or 6 weekly blocks of 60 minute sessions per week.

I also offer single sessions of 90 minutes.  With a view to further sessions should they be helpful.

If this sounds right for you, please get in touch and we can arrange an initial assessment where we can decide if I am the right

Counsellor for you.

SUPERVISION FOR COUNSELLORS

Guidance & Support

Supervision is a professional relationship which helps you, as a counsellor/trainee, to reflect on different aspects of the counselling relationship, and aspects outside the session that impact your work. There is an ethical requirement from all Accredited Bodies that you maintain regular supervision whether you are a trainee or a qualified counsellor.

We will work collaboratively within the guidelines of your chosen Accredited Body/Professional Code of Ethics, taking into consideration the working practices and guidelines of any agency settings you are involved in as well as the context in which you work.
